If Charli XCX’s 2025 Met Gala look is any indication, we’re in for Brat summer 2.0.
Fresh off four sold-out nights closing out her solo tour at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the musician popped uptown to walk the blue carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for fashion’s biggest night. This isn’t Charli’s first time at the Met Gala—she attended in 2024 and 2019—but it’s her first appearance since the release of Brat, the career-changing album that made her a household name.
To honor this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the “360” singer wore a black blazer with exaggerated shoulder pads, a sheer skirt with a train, and black underwear. (You don’t need to guess the color tonight.) But what really set this Charli XCX Met Gala look apart was a spray of black feathers, which framed her face, cascaded down the inside of her jacket, and trimmed her skirt. She finished it off with matching over-the-knee boots that wouldn’t be out of place on a dance floor.
The gothic Ann Demeulemeester ensemble aced the night’s dress code, Tailored for You; it’s exactly what Charli might wear anywhere else, just with an expertly cut blazer on top for good measure. Clearly, another Brat-influenced summer is coming. Care to dance with a fallen angel?
