‘Joan,’ Starring Sophie Turner: Everything We Know About the True-Crime Series

Five years after the end of Game of Thrones, the show that made Sophie Turner a household name, the Queen of the North is ready for her starring role. In the upcoming Joan, she plays a single mother in the 1980s who turns to a life of crime to support herself and her child.

If the name of the show sounds familiar, that might be because it was the series Turner was filming while she and her ex-husband, Joe Jonas, were sorting through their messy custody agreement. Much of the drama played out in the tabloids, the effects of which Turner later discussed in an interview with British Vogue.

“My kids were in the States and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish Joan [in the UK],” Turner said, referring to the accusations that she was an absent mother. “And all these articles started coming out…. It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother—mum guilt is so real! I just kept having to say to myself, ‘None of this is true. You are a good mum and you’ve never been a partier.’”

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming series.
