The Duchess of Sussex is back on the ‘gram!
Seven years after Meghan Markle shut down her personal Instagram page and lifestyle blog, The Tig, the mother-of-two has officially hard-launched a new profile with the simple handle, @meghan.
On January 1, Markle celebrated the new year by frolicking barefoot on a seemingly empty beach in a loose-fitting white button-up and white capris pants. In the first Instagram Reel posted on her new account, Markle runs towards the shoreline before stopping to write “2025” in the sand in particularly elegant script.
It’s unclear what Markle’s new Instagram profile means for her mysterious lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which launched its own Instagram page in March 2024 and hasn’t been updated since. Still, it’s possible Markle is simply looking to regain some of the “autonomy” she gave up by deleting her personal social media accounts ahead of her royal wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
“It was a big adjustment—a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life,” Markle said during an interview with The Cut in 2022. And what signals control of one’s life quite like wearing all white on a sandy beach without a care in the world for dirt and grime? Now that’s freedom.
