The Stolen Girl Ending Explained: Here’s What Happens in the Gripping Disney+ Thriller

Nina had once been married to a man named Nicolas Thibault. The pair had two daughters, Josephine and Rose. However, in 2021, Nicolas and Rose were killed in a tragic hit-and-run accident. As Nina says, her life “was ruined in an instant” and she was left to raise Josephine on her own.

The truth about Elisa

We also learn that Elisa was connected to Nina’s tragic story. It turns out, she was behind the wheel.

Elisa sped away from the scene and let someone else take the blame: Marcus Turner, who’d been having an affair with Elisa. He had hoped that Elisa would leave her husband and marry him, and Elisa was even pregnant with his child at the time—yes, Georgie, we learn, is actually the biological son of Marcus, not Fred. Out of love, Marcus confessed to the crime and had been in jail ever since. Elisa cut off all communication and continued her “perfect” life. Pretty dark stuff.

Nina, however, knew the truth. Ever since the accident, she’d been plotting her revenge on Elisa. And she decided to steal her daughter, just as her own daughter had been stolen from her.

Elisa’s complicated past

Elisa’s backstory gets even more complex when we learn the truth about why she sped off after hitting Nicholas and Rose. As it turns out, she was on a mission to visit her dying father. But she wasn’t visiting him to bid him a fond farewell.

Elisa, we learn, had grown up in a religious commune and had been abused by her father as a child. She intended to visit her father and make sure that…well…he really was dying.

When Elisa caught her father visiting her own daughter, Lucia, in her room, she ended up pushing him down the stairs and killing him. That’s right: By our count, that’s three murders in one day! We told you it was a complicated tale.
